Aegis Scarves is an online fashion accessories brand located in Toronto, Canada. We have found the magic in a long-neglected fashion niche: scarves. Despite having much potential for design, instead of scarves consumers tend to turn towards jewelry and other small accessories to find their style identities. We seek to remind the fashion world of how detailed and thoughtful scarf designs could be, and how it's so easy for every woman to identify with them.
We have a singular artistic goal: to celebrate femininity and personhood, no matter the age, background or personality. Our themes are focused on people and their different nuances and expressions. Each of our scarves are modeled after an imaginary muse and their imaginary identity. Aegis Scarves are a celebration of individuality and the complexity of women. This love and curiosity of people is reflected in everything we do: from our base sketches to marketing.

Hi! My name is Catherine Wu, and I'm the designer, founder. and CEO of Aegis Scarves. I'm 22 years old and I currently run the company's operations in Toronto, Canada. As founder, I am responsible for all product design, operations, and business strategy. My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Honors Business Administration from Ivey Business School.
I appreciate your interest in learning more about my brand on a personal and artistic level, and I would love to share my story with you. Let's get right into it!

Passion for Entrepreneurship and Portraiture
I've been making art since the age of 8, and also starting from that tender early age, I've been fascinated by the field of business as well. It was in secondary school that I realized that they intersect in entrepreneurship. This is what sparked my dream of owning a business some day.
Ever since I started making art at 8, I knew that drawing people was my specialty. Everything else seemed meaningless and tedious for me. I always considered people to be the hardest subjects you could create art after. If your lines are off by just a little bit the picture could look horrendous, but when it is just right, it was magical. I would spend hours sketching, erasing, smudging - trying to create just the right twinkle in the eye and expression on the cheek. It was quite the passion project for young me!

Creating Aegis Scarves
When I grew up, I was faced with a common dilemma for artists of finding a career that allows for creative expression. It was in my senior year of high school when I came up with Aegis Scarves. Aegis Scarves combines my passion for art and portraiture with my other (slightly more profitable) passion: business. By draping my art around their necks, Aegis Scarves was the perfect way to make my art a part of my customers' lives, make my customers feel beautiful and inspired, and provide a means for self-expression

We are so excited to announce some very big changes that are coming up that will make Aegis Scarves into a more well-rounded, sustainable and responsible brand.

In an effort to reduce our carbon footprint, Aegis Scarves will be making the switch to 100% recycled cashmere. An update will be provided soon whether recycled cashmere will replace virgin cashmere in our inventory, but it will be guaranteed that it would be offered as an purchasing option.

We have eliminated plastic wrapping from our packaging, hereby making it 100% plastic-free.
